Introduce Yourself
Post by Former admin on Sep 23rd, 2007 at 01:36 pm
This is the topic where you can introduce yourself and give a few details about your current situation and your (or your child's) allergies. (You may also jump right into posting in any of the other forums if you like.) We've very much appreciate knowing how you found us when you post. We're very glad you found us. Didn't introduce myself on the other board, so I always felt kind of like an outsider. Guess I will go ahead and do it right this time
My name is Erin, and I have been participating in allergy forums for about 8 months now. The short version of the story is that learned about my peanut allergy in February, four months after having a TIA (non-damaging mini-stroke) episode. After reviewing other symptoms from that day and symptoms from more recent allergic reactions, I discovered that this episode was an anaphylactic reaction to peanuts. After cutting out peanuts, the anaphylactic symptoms stopped occurring, but I continued to have other allergic symptoms - which we finally learned were a result of a soy allergy. Having the opportunity to share with others who have peanut & soy allergies has really made a difference in my journey to a healthier, allergy free life. Although I am not quite there yet, it is getting better, and I am glad that there are places like this where I can learn from others and share information that can help others along the way as well.

I'm glad you found this site! I have some soy issues along with my PA but they are not as extreme as it can get. Thank you for coming along on the journey and feel free to ask whatever it is that you need answers to. Your insight in the journey is also appreciated.

i am just now popping in finally, after lurking here for a little while trying to get my nerve up to joining a new site. i would have probably lagged behind who knows how many more days or weeks if it had not been for peg posting about her dog in off topic. i love peg and figured if she was brave enough to take the leap, then so was i. i would have ended up here sooner or later, but i'm glad it turned out to be sooner.
