Any support groups in Dallas or North Texas?

New to the group! I have a 4 yr old peanut/tree nut allergic child, and I'm looking for a support group in or around the Collin County area. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome!

Even though I'm in the metroplex, I don't know of any support groups here. I did find this thread that lists support groups for the US. http://allergy.hyperboards.com/action/view_topic/topic_id/223

Also, I know there used to be one called FAST that had support groups in Collin County, Dallas, Grapevine/Flower Mound and Fort Worth, but I haven't heard anything about them in several years.

Hi! There is a FAST in SA I can contact them and see if they know anyone up your way.

After doing a little searching, it appears that there are no currently active support groups in the area.

The FAST websites I checked are all defunct - hopefully Tabi's SA contact will know if the FAST groups up here are still active.

When I lived in Dallas there was a group headed by a woman in the Lake Highlands area, and we met at Medical City, Baylor PLano, and maybe other hospitals.

I remember her name and would give it to you if you pm me I could search to see ifshe's still there first. She dealt with MFA. She had great Halloween parties!

This was 10 years ago btw.

Hi I'm very new, so I'm having trouble figuring out how to PM you, McCobbre. I would definitely like her name and contact information. I tried the FAST website yesterday, too, and got the same results. Thanks everyone for trying to help with this. I really think a metroplex the size of Dallas/Fort Worth should have at least one support group. I may just have to start my own in Collin County.

I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your help.
Diana

If you look in the square that contains the member name, there is a little button under her avatar that say "p.m.". Just click and then you can send her a message.

I am in your area, and have not found a support group in years. We used to go on play dates and stuff with FAST, but that was when Ry was 2 or 3 years old. She will be 11 in a couple of weeks.

Thanks. I may have to start my own group on meetup or something. I just want to be able to have some safe playdates and holiday parties that she can attend.
