Clinque eyeliner and lipliner contains "arachidyl behenate."

I e-mailed but did not get an answer, so I stopped using as a precaution.

ARACHIDYL BEHENATE – A waxy fatty ester made from arachidic alcohol and behenic acid.

ARAHIDIC ACID – A fatty acid also called eicosanoic acid that is found in peanut oil and similar vegetable fats. Also arahidic alcohol.

BEHENIC ACID/BEHENIC ALCOHOL – Docosanoic acid. Docosanol. Water-soluble constituent of seed fats, animal fats and marine animal oils used to opacify shampoos. Alcohol is derived from the behenic acid and it is a mixture of different fatty alcohols, also used as insecticide and antihistamine. Low toxicity.

This ingredient - ARACHIDYL BEHENATE - also appears to be in many Cover Girl products and many brands of lip products and eyeliners.

Trader Joe's Chocolate Organic Milk (the kind sold in individual boxes) has a warning for being processed on shared line with peanuts, tree nuts, eggs (I think if I am remembering correctly) and shell fish. YUCK! The shell fish surprised me more than the other allergens.

I was talking about this list with my dh, and he said that it probably isn't a concern about cutting boards would be seasoned/oiled with peanut oil. He said that any vegetable based oil would break down and turn rancid. He said that linseed oil or mineral oil would be a better candidate for that.

Now, this isn't a 100%, but it made sense to me. (and I felt better about it after...)

I would assume the vitamin D they add to the milk is the source of the possible contamination.

it IS weird that a chocolate milk had a fish/seafood warning on it. i also found the same warning on popcorn recently. i was thinking the same thing...."why on earth would popcorn ever come into contact with fish/seafood?" i cannot even imagine a company producing popcorn and anything fishy/seafoody. ick. i bought a different brand of popcorn even though we have no fish/seafood allergies. the warning itself just turned me off.

Margaret Holmes canned vegetables...was hoping to give my son okra and tomatoes only to see that it was a may contain. Apparently they also sell boiled peanuts. YECH!

I have a friend who's DS is also PA. She said Walmart (Great Value) brand drink mixes have the warning also. She said it was the little packets of drink mix that you would put into a water bottle.

HATE Great Value - they put a warning on EVERYTHING they manufacture whether or not there is any peanut processing whatsoever. Name brands *usually* have better labelling practices!

The pop tarts I buy dd say "processed on lines.." wheat and milk on the box and when I took it to my allergist to look at it, he found another label on the foil wrapper that said may "processed on lines...." milk wheat and SOY.

I haven't had time to call them about it and then forgot about it. I'd like to hear what they have to say about that.

I was at my mother's house this weekend. She had bought cinnamon sticks at Whole Foods (their store brand) that were labeled as "may contain."

WOW. Wonder how they are managing THAT?

I didn't think I would be surprised by any of these anymore, after 8 years. But this one did surprise me.

THANKS for posting this!
