Are swedish fish safe for PA/TNA? What about the Willy Wonka candies...do they make the Rants and Nerds? Are they safe? How about Twizzlers? Just seeing if others had problems with any of these products. We got some while at a Halloween party.

To the best of my knowledge, fish, runts, nerds and twizzlers are all safe.

Last I knew those all were - well, I'm not sure about Runts. Nestle and Hershey's will put cross-contamination warning labels on things. I hadn't bought Nerds for a while because they were made in Mexico. But the ones I found for Halloween lately don't say that, so I bought them. That doesn't mean they aren't made there, but Nestle told me last year that they did country-of-origin labeling.

My son and one other child have both had reactions after eating the black Twizzlers. This may have nothing to do with the candy itself and PA, but I thought I should indicate it.

DS was in a stage production where on stage he was given licorice--well he was to take it out of a box. During a dress rehearsal he took it out and ate it, but I was not the one who put it in. He did not eat any on stage after that reaction.

It could have been the licorice, or it could have been cross contamination from the person who put it in the box. He had no issues the very first time he ate it.

Another child with PA--and other food allergies--reacted after eating a black Twizzler. It could have been his other FAs that were responsibile.

There is a food family connection between licorice and peanut, but I'd need to look that up. DS has never had any issues with any other legumes and eats them frequently.

He has had red Twizzlers many times without issue.

We've had swedish fish but I couldn't tell you the brand name. They look exactly like what we've bought at the store. We usually get them at a local chocolate shop that also has different candies. They always let us see the label before we buy. My kids have eaten them with no problem.

We are big fans of Swedish Fish around here. Smiley

My daughter also eats Twizzlers (of all varieties, though, to be fair, we've never tried the black ones).

I'm wary of Wonka candies. My daughter had what we really think was a reaction (reproducible) to a Halloween variety mix a few years back. Unlabeled XC, we think. Dumb us, we didn't figure it out the first time and let her do it again a few days later, too.

Just figured I'd mention it. Could have been egg-related XC and not nuts, though.

Sesame Street just turned 40. So I guess this means that I really am older than Dirt Burt, (and Ernie) doesn't it?

Licorice is a legume and is a favorable cross-contamination with peanut...also a legume.

haha.. thanks! very nice of you!

but we have so many similar candies here (the Swedish berries taste the same, etc) that I don't really need them (plus I am trying not to eat too much candy, not good for my teeth hehe).. we have the entire line of Maynards (Cadbury Adams) candies though it seems no fish around lately
thanks again!! Smiley
