I don't know whether it's better to start a new thread on Cake Mate or just continue to add it to the Betty Crocker Parlor Perfect Sprinkles thread. Signature Brands makes both.

I have seen Valentine sprinkles with the Cake Mate brand that have a peanut warning and others that don't. So read those Cake Mate labels carefully!

Sure, the voices aren't real-- but sometimes they have good ideas.

Has anyone determined their policy on labelling for egg or other top-8 allergens?

(Will they use a 'may contain' for egg, in other words?) I don't remember.

The only thing I know about that is that they have a "contains egg" warning at the bottom of the ingredients on their big, frosting-like Valentine decorations - you know the ones that are like dried frosting you set on the cake? I should have looked harder at the "processed on a line" warning they have on those Valentine sprinkles. They list multiple things, and I was just checking for peanut for us. I'll look the next time I'm at the store.

Here's the response I got from Signature Brands:

"Thank you for contacting Signature Brands. The products that include peanuts or are made on shared lines with peanuts include:
Marble Mixins
Parlor Perfect
Cake Mate Fruit Flavored Decors

Cake Mate 26 oz Rainbow Sprinkles - upc 52100 32626
Cake Mate 26 oz Chocolate Sprinkles - upc 52100 30247

Please always read your labels in case of any updates or line changes. Also, feel free to contact our toll-free Helpline at 877-726-8793,
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm CST, for any further questions.

Thank you for your inquiry.
"

I actually asked a lot more questions than they answered. I suppose I'll have to call if I want to know more.

I looked at the store today.

The Cake Mate Valentine sprinkles in the divided cylinder have no warning on them. That has been the case when I've seen them in other stores, too.

The Cake Mate Valentine sprinkles in the cardboard box that holds 4 vials of sprinkles has a warning that says, "Made on a line that processes peanuts, almonds, and milk."

So...where does everyone get their sprinkles now? Are there any nut free companies that make cake decorating sprinkles? I have some sprinkles from a few months ago (red) that I will use at Valentine's--I think they are Betty Crocker and DD was OK with them--label looks OK. I'm just trying to plan for the future as we have some birthdays coming up.

I had just finished a clear (no warning) container of Parlor Perfect sprinkles from Betty Crocker. At the store yesterday, I see their new warning labels.

So, I bought Kroger sprinkles. There is no warning on them, but I have not yet called.

Just so you know, Signature Brands makes both Cake Mate and Betty Crocker sprinkles

Someone found holiday-specific sprinkles at Target (I know I spotted them in the dollar section after reading the post) that were made by an Eden Prairie, MN company that was PF. There's a thread around here somewhere.
